Venue: San Mateo Superior Court

Verdict/Result: Favorable early settlement in high profile wrongful death case

Case Name: Anonymous v. Homeowners, Drug Dealers

Description: Plaintiffs were the surviving parent and elder sister  of 13 year old who died after ingesting an ecstasy pill in the company of her 13 year old friend at the home of her friend's parents during a sleepover. Plaintiffs' decedent had a toxic allergic reaction to the ecstasy and was in audible distress throughout the night at the house.  In addition to suing the homeowners and their daughter, plaintiffs sued the drug dealers and another 13 year old and her parents.  The case was very high profile in the community in which it was brought and even received national media attention due to the young age of the involved girls.  The defendant homeowners were alleged to have been negligent in allowing illegal drugs in their home, failing to prevent drugs from being ingested, and failing to notice that the decedent was in distress and failing to summon medical assistance.
